7SHIELD: protecting the ground segments of europe's space systems.

Resilience Guard holds a funded, named role in the 7SHIELD consortium under Horizon 2020, grant agreement 883284, a 24 months project, starting 1 September 2020. Here is what the project does, what we contribute, and what it sharpens in the consulting our clients receive.

The project

What is 7SHIELD?

The success of an Earth observation mission depends on far more than the satellite: it depends on the ground segments that operate it and on the integrity and availability of the data they gather. 7SHIELD built a holistic framework to protect the ground segments of Europe's space systems, including the Copernicus ground segment, against combined cyber and physical attack, across the full crisis lifecycle of prevention, detection, response and mitigation, demonstrated at live installations and co-designed with first responders and law enforcement.

Our role

What Resilience Guard contributes

Risk and vulnerability leadership. Resilience Guard led the activities to identify potential risks and vulnerabilities across the protected ground segment installations.
Service continuity of critical systems. We developed the plans that ensure the continuity of critical services in the event of an attack, converting detection and response into sustained operation.
Converged cyber physical protection. The layered detection, early warning and coordinated response capability developed here is exactly the discipline modern critical infrastructure demands.

7SHIELD is the research pedigree behind our critical infrastructure practice: its layered cyber physical protection logic anchors the counter drone and perimeter thinking inside the DAEDALUS Airport Resilience Framework and strengthens our cyber resilience consulting for every operator whose perimeter is both digital and physical.
