Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is business continuity management?+

Business continuity management, BCM, is the discipline of identifying an organisation's critical activities and building the capability to keep them running through disruption. It is codified in ISO 22301 and typically covers business impact analysis, continuity strategies, plans, and an exercising and improvement cycle.

What is the difference between business continuity and operational resilience?+

Business continuity focuses on recovering defined activities after disruption. Operational resilience is broader: it asks whether the organisation as a whole can absorb shocks and adapt, taking in strategy, culture, third parties and regulation. In practice a mature BCM system is the backbone of operational resilience.

What is crisis management?+

Crisis management is the leadership discipline for events that threaten the organisation itself: structures, decision-making, information flow and communication under severe uncertainty. It sits above incident response and is exercised at executive and board level.

What is Resilience Guard's role in EU research?+

Resilience Guard participates as a partner in EU Horizon research and innovation projects, contributing practitioner expertise in resilience, critical infrastructure protection and climate adaptation across more than 16 projects to date.
