Who is John Zeppos?
John Zeppos is the Founder and Group Managing Director of Resilience Guard GmbH, the Switzerland based consultancy specialising in business continuity management, operational resilience, risk management and crisis governance. A two time Global Winner of the Business Continuity Institute's Business Continuity Manager of the Year award, in 2012 and 2014, he has served on international award juries in resilience and risk management and lectures at postgraduate level on resilience and risk governance.
With more than two decades of international consulting experience, John supports organisations across critical sectors, energy, financial services, manufacturing, telecommunications and other critical infrastructure environments, in strengthening resilience frameworks and improving their ability to anticipate, manage and recover from operational disruption. His work centres on the governance layer: designing the structures and programmes that let leadership respond effectively to complex risks, from cyber incidents and infrastructure failures to supply chain disruptions and regulatory challenge.
The recognition record is unusual on both sides of the table. Highly Commended at the CIR Awards in 2011, then twice named the world's Business Continuity Manager of the Year by the BCI, he has also served the profession as a judge: on the IRM Global Awards panel in 2012, 2013 and 2014, and on the BCI Global Awards judging panel in 2013. In 2014, the year of his second global title, he founded Resilience Guard, building a firm around the standard the awards recognised.

Alongside consulting, John contributes to academic research on resilience, systemic risk and infrastructure disruption: how infrastructure systems, economic networks and institutional structures shape resilience and recovery capacity after major disruption, including socioeconomic resilience modelling, infrastructure risk and disaster recovery. His research has been presented at international conferences, and as a visiting lecturer he contributes to postgraduate programmes on resilience, crisis governance and risk management.
